It is a real ordeal that passengers experience when boarding Ethiopian Airlines planes for international flights. Many say they are disappointed by the quality of services provided by this airline which remains far below the notoriety.
The reality experienced this Wednesday, February 14, 2024 by its customers in Kinshasa is a perfect illustration.
« The flight was scheduled for 1:00 p.m., destination, Dubai-Brussels with a stopover in Addis Ababa. We arrived at the airport at 9:00 a.m. for checking and other administrative formalities according to the program given to us by the services. Arriving there, we learned that there was a connection problem and that checking had to be done manually, » confides a passenger.
Following this delay, the responsibility of which lies with the company, « the flight scheduled for 1 p.m. was postponed without even informing the passengers », continues the same source. While the check continued, a certain Pascal, an Ethiopian Airlines agent, came around 1:30 p.m. to announce that the plane was going to take off « while this usual formality was continuing… and the plane took off while the other passengers did not ‘had not yet finished completing the formalities ».
This situation greatly penalized certain passengers who missed the 1 p.m. flight while they were on a business trip.
« I have a deal to conclude this Thursday in Dubai but I just missed the flight because of the amateurism of Ethiopian Airlines. For the moment I don’t know what to do because I’m missing this partnership because of this company », regrets another passenger according to whom, the person who was supposed to remain in charge « screwed them off « while all the victims were waiting for him at the office for “explanations ».
According to information collected at N’djili airport, Ethiopian gave in to pressure from certain political actors and diplomatic bodies present on board the plane. Public opinion therefore wonders if this lack of consideration towards passengers is only observed in the DRC or in all the countries flown by this airline. Information reaching us from Addis Ababa where the plane which left Kinshasa was to make a stopover, reports the same situation experienced by the passengers. Worse still, the latter were forced to spend the night in the Ethiopian capital; Apparently, the company experienced the same difficulties.
Above all, Ethiopian Airlines has not thought about paying for the damage its customers are suffering through this situation. Ways are being taken to take legal action so that all victims are restored to their most natural rights possible.
